My First Time in Trying INTERMITTENT FASTING
Why I decided to get started
In general, I had been very interested in fitness, nutrition, and weight lifting (though my focus had shifted to guitar and music now). I wanted to look cut, muscular, and fit. I wanted to look great. After watching many Hodge twins videos on Youtube, I found out that they were doing Intermittent Fasting so I gave it a try! Though I had only tried it for about a month, my results were great I hope to share this with those who are skeptical. I am not trying to promote a certain nutrition guide or a workout program; I just want to share with you my experience. So enjoy!
What I ate and did for Intermittent Fasting(IF)
- eat "healthy" fats, proteins, and carbs
- keep my ratio to 40/40/20% (carb/protein/fat) of calories
- get enough fiber
- try to stay away from dairy
- lean protein + nuts (replace fat from red meat)
- drink lots of water throughout the day
Why it was hard for me
It was especially hard because I was (and still am) a junior in high school. So, as you know, intermittent fasting forces you to pick an eating window of 4-8 hours. I started out with 4-hour eating windows; however, I found that it was hard because it always made me feel bloated, trying to cram in 2,000+ calories in 4 hours so I switched to a 6-hour eating window. Despite the switch, I had a hard time because of school and I had to choose the window of 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. I did not choose the hours within the school hours because I find it hard to take 2,000+ calories worth of food to school.
My Results
Without a doubt, intermittent fasting worked. I noticed that I was losing more fat while retaining muscles while keeping the same training routine. I retained high energy levels despite having to fight hunger from time to time.
However, I had recently gone off track and went on a more vegetable/fruit-focused diet but do not see as much result. I still believe that IF is the best solution to lose fat (though may not be the healthiest, which I can not say because I am not a doctor nor a scientist).
Lastly, I intend to continue IF because it had simplified my life and made it easier to eat. It also showed some pretty awesome results as well! Because of IF, I did not have to cook as often and could often monitor my food intake (shorter window = shorter binge eating time + getting full and not feeling "binge-y")
Well, that's it!!!
